Gymnastics Classes
4 blocks of classes run throughout the year. The number of weeks in each block will range from 14-17, with a short block over the summer period. There will be a week off at the end of Summer and over Christmas. Once you enrol on a block of classes you will then be notified of re-enrolment 4 weeks prior to the next block commencing.
You will have 2 weeks to make payment to secure your child’s place, before the place is offered to the waiting list.
Overview
The gymnastic syllabus focuses on the gymnastic skills for the floor, bars, beam and vault apparatus. Children also work on their balance, strength, flexibility and co-ordination.
What to Expect:
The children will all do a warm up on the floor area and focus on 2 pieces of apparatus for the session. The warm up will focus on pulse raising exercises and incorporate strength, flexibility & mobility exercises essential for gymnastic progression. The children will then rotate between beam & bars one week and vault & floor the following week.
The class ratio is 9:1 and the coach will split the children into 3 groups to work on skills related to the apparatus. This allows the children to maximise their time on practising their skills and not waiting for turns. Coaches will work closely with the children where assistance is needed and the children will rotate around in their groups.
Once children reach the required level they will be invited to attend the advanced gymnastic class which runs for 2 hours.
