Active Bolton is your new fitness and wellbeing provider, bringing together facilities and services across the borough with one simple aim – to make Bolton a healthier, happier place to live and work.
From a 24-hour gym, fitness classes and tennis, through to swimming, sauna and steam rooms, and GP health referral programmes. We’re here for everyone, regardless of age, ability, or fitness level.
As a not-for-profit charitable trust, every penny of surplus revenue is reinvested into our facilities, services and community partnerships. It’s all about you.
Our new website is on its way. In the meantime, all our centres are open as normal and our teams are ready to welcome you.

Active Bolton is the new trading name for the charity operating Bolton Arena for over 20 years.
The charity is a proud to be at the heart of Bolton’s community, dedicated to inspiring healthier, happier lives for everyone.
Yes you will be able to use your local leisure centre from the 1st April as normal, all bookings will be live on the Active Bolton app from Wednesday 26th March.
If we expect any changes we will communicate via the Active Bolton app.
As with any major changes, a certain level of disruption can be expected.
We are working behind the scenes to ensure any disruption is kept to an absolute minimum. We will keep customers updated frequently via email from 19th March 2026 and via the Active Bolton App.
Class bookings – There may be a cross over period whilst we change operators that means the advanced booking system is temporarily paused. We will ensure we keep disruption to a minimum.
No. As Bolton Community Leisure will no longer be operating Bolton’s leisure centres, your current app will no longer work from 1 April. A new app – Active Bolton – is ready for download. As an existing member you will receive email communications informing you that you need to register for an online account with Active Bolton.
Yes. A website is currently being created for the new sites and will be available soon.
At the moment you should continue to make all bookings in the same way for any session on or before the 31st March 2026. For sessions from April 1st 2026, you will be able to book via the Active Bolton App once you have registered, as per your advanced booking rules (7 days for members).
Yes. There are no plans to change the opening times.
No. The same friendly staff will continue to work in both centres to deliver the same great level of service under the management of Active Bolton. You may notice a change to their uniforms in line with the transition to Active Bolton.
Yes. You will be able to access the centre as normal, although there a couple of changes that you need to be aware of. For leisure centre customers you will have to download the new app to gain access to the building from 1st April which we will share further information on as we get nearer to the transition.
No. Your membership will remain unchanged allowing you to enjoy all the same benefits.
Your direct debit will automatically be transferred from Bolton Community Leisure to Active Bolton.
You do not need to take any action. Please do not cancel your direct debit.
However, the name on your statement will change to Active Bolton.
We will confirm further information regarding the dates of your collection as we work with Bolton Community Leisure regarding the transfer of your Direct Debit.

App: You will need to download the new Active Bolton app when it is launched.
Class booking: This will stay the same. You will still have the benefit of booking 7 days in advance. We will still operate strike rules for non-attendance and late cancellation.

No, there are no changes planned for swimming lessons. These will be delivered at the current stage, day and time you or your child is currently in.
Your direct debit will automatically be transferred from Bolton Community Leisure to Active Bolton.
You do not need to take any action. Please do not cancel your direct debit. The date your direct debit will be collected will not change and the amount collected will stay the same. However, the name on your statement will change.

Active Bolton will use CoursePro to manage swimming lessons from 1st April 2026. You will use your same login details to access your child’s progress, but accessing via a new website. This will be communicated to you.

The current timetable and service offering will carry on as normal. Services will continue to be reviewed regularly in line with demand and customer feedback.
No existing membership will provide access to Bolton Arena. There will be new membership options available that does provide access to Bolton Arena from 1st April. You will have the option to keep your existing access or change your membership to access Bolton Arena.
