Why employers should consider the health and wellbeing of their workers
Several studies have shown that being physically active and/or taking part in sport are great ways to improve workplace relationships, morale and team working.
In fact, an academic study published in the Journal of Sports Sciences says: “Sport holds benefits not only for individual health but also for group cohesion and performance and organisational benefits such as increased work performance.”
Meanwhile, it has been found that physically active workers take 27% fewer sick days than those with more sedentary lifestyles, according to a report published by professional services company PricewaterhouseCoopers (PwC).
And just for good measure, movement among the workforce is actually backed by law, with DSE Regulations, Working Time Directive, the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 and Health and Safety at Work Regulations 1999 all encouraging employees to move away from screens and take regular breaks, thus minimising the risk of musculoskeletal injury and stress.
All that adds up to a compelling case for employers to consider the health and wellbeing, both physically and mentally, of those working for them.

Classes
Bolton Arena Sports Village hosts 80 classes each week – 50 led by expert instructors in our own studio, in addition to 30 virtual classes by world renowned fitness experts Les Mills. The range stretches from yoga to body combat, to boogie bounce, providing something for everyone.
Sauna and steam room
A visit to a sauna or a steam room has all sorts of benefits – it can relieve stress, help circulation, lower blood pressure, clear congestion, boost your immune system and remove toxins.
And if you’ve been working out in our gym, at a class, or playing a sport on one of our pitches, a sauna or steam room can help with recovery and loosen stiff joints.
The difference between a sauna and steam room is the moisture level. A sauna provides dry heat, which helps release tension from your muscles, while a steam room envelopes you in wet heat, which opens up your pores and detoxifies your skin.
