New Tennis Head Coach Appointed

Stateside Foods Bolton Arena are excited to announce Steven Fathers as the new Tennis Head Coach.

With 25 years coaching experience Steven has worked at the Arena as a performance coach for over 15 years producing many regional and national players. With his wealth of coaching experience Bolton Arena can look forward to the future of tennis.

In the summer of 2018 Bolton Arena was chosen as a regional player development centre by the LTA. The regional player development centres provide high level support to junior players with high potential aged between 10 – 14yrs.  The regional centres also provide an exceptional standard of coaching and structured sessions geared towards the athletic development necessary to progress to a national academy.

Stuart Kay – Head of Sport commented on the appointment  ‘Bolton Arena are part of the Lawn Tennis Association Regional Player Development Centre performance pathway, having a knowledgeable professional coaching team is imperative to our success. We have built up an excellent reputation in the northwest for providing a fantastic pathway for all players. Steven has been a key part of our success over many years, he now steps up as Head Coach, I’m very confident Steven and his team will continue to develop players to reach their full potential.

Steven Fathers added ‘I am delighted to be appointed as the Head Coach at Bolton Arena Tennis Academy. I am really excited and fully committed, to further grow the profile and exceptionally high standards at the Academy. I will be working hard to shape a very strong team of coaches, to help players push their aspirational boundaries and reach their full potential. I want to ensure that Bolton Arena is an engaging, supportive and enjoyable environment for players, parents and coaches, to achieve the very best outcomes both on and off the court. We will continue to work closely with parents and the LTA, to benefit from the very best research and learning that the LTA has to offer.

In addition to the appointment of the Head coach, Bolton Arena have recruited two other experienced tennis coaches to complete the tennis coaching team:

Simone Marcantonio, Simone started his career at one of the best clubs in the Italy, training some of the best Italian ITF Junior players and was a sparring partner for WTA & ITF players.
He moved to an academy in Spain 2 years ago (4 Slam Tennis)  and had the regular opportunity to coach ATP, ITF Junior and Tennis Europe players. Simone is looking forward to new challenges in Bolton.

John Lister, John has had 18 years of coaching experience at various centres around the North West and has helped produce players that have played at national and international level.

John is highly motivated and is looking forward to working in a team that has proceed with many regional and national players.

To support the tennis coaching team the existing Head of Strength and Conditioning coach Howard Green will also assume more responsibility and work alongside Steven to ensure the very best standards of fitness, planning and support for all our Academy players.

Cornerstone Become Commercial Partner

We’re excited to announce a new commercial partnership with Cornerstone Design & Marketing.

CORNERSTONE Design & Marketing is a full-service marketing agency working with a wide range of companies and organisations to develop robust marketing strategies to help advance and grow their businesses and customer-base.

– Assist the Gym Team in delivering the highest possible standards to members.

– Carry out new member inductions, programme reviews and one to one training sessions.

JOB VACANCY: Casual Arena Attendant  

Working in the Operations Department, the successful applicant will be required to assist with cleaning, facility checks, setting up of equipment and other general duties on an
‘ad-hoc’ basis, as and when required.  

A wide variety of shift patterns exist and will involve weekend, evening and early morning working, however, there is no guarantee that work will be offered regularly. 

Shift examples: 

Weekdays

6.30am – various finish times
2.30pm / 5.30pm – latest finish time 10.45pm 

Weekends

7.30am / 9.00am – various finish times
1.30pm / 2.00pm – latest finish time 8.15pm 

Weekend working is an essential part of the role.
