HUNDREDS of people embraced the sunshine at the first ever Made in Manchester festival at Bolton Arena.
The event celebrated the 90s Manchester music scene with Stone Roses, Oasis, the Smiths, and Happy Mondays tribute acts, as well as up-and-coming talent.
People of all ages packed the grassed area to the back of Bolton Arena, with some VIPs also watching from the arena balcony. A number of festivalgoers set up camping chairs to watch the acts while others stood, enjoying a drink or food from one of the vendors on site.
Wigan rockers Stanleys opened the show before making way for the first tribute act of the night Happy Mondaze.
The band featured their very own Bez, who continued to make appearances on stage during other band’s sets.
Next up was one of two Bolton bands on the line-up – Our Fold. Local favourites The Jade Assembly were also performing later in the evening.
Host Dave Sweetmore, from radio station XS Manchester, described Our Fold and The Jade Assembly as “two of the best bands to ever come out of Bolton” and they certainly did not disappoint.
These Smiths took to the stage just as former Smiths guitarist Johnny Marr took to the stage at Glastonbury and a fan in a Noel Gallagher mask (above) watched on as The Oasis Experience blasted through a crowd-pleasing set.
Resurrection Stone Roses then rounded off a great day with a euphoric set.

Reliving the heady Madchester vibes of the infamous Hacienda, Happy Mondaze bring you the cult classics and best-selling hits of Manchester’s number one baggy band the Happy Mondays.
Never before has a tribute band captured the true essence of the originals with such dedication to re-creating these revolutionary tracks. Resurrection Stone Roses tribute
Resurrection were formed in 1998 & are based in Glasgow, Scotland. The most successful & first tribute to The Stone Roses north of the border & the closest band to create the recorded sound of the Roses 88-90 period when the band were at their peak. Their success made them not only the best Stone Roses tribute around, but one of Scotland’s most seen bands in their first 3yrs under another title. Their success was so huge, that a Stone Roses best of album which Silvertone released (years before) charted in the top 20 album sales during Resurrection’s peak.
The Oasis Experience
The Oasis Experience bring you exactly that, the experience of actually being at an Oasis gig, a superb layer of soundscape recreation by incredibly talented musicians with breathtaking vocal similarity which will have you wondering if its live or a recording.
The day wouldn’t be complete without showcasing local bands and musicians, lookout for announcements in the coming months.
In between the acts there will be a DJ playing even more classics from the 1990’s. The bars will be open throughout the duration of the event with a variety of good food outlets to suit all tastes.

The Manchester (Madchester) music scene, famous for 90’s bands is a music and cultural scene that developed in the Manchester area of the United Kingdom in the late 1980s, in which artists merged alternative rock with acid house culture and other sources, including psychedelia and 1960s pop. The label was popularised by the British music press in the early 1990s, and included groups such as Happy Mondays, The Stone Roses, Inspiral Carpets, Northside, 808 State, James and The Charlatans, amongst others. Nearly thirty years on, their music is still as popular.
