They came ahead of companies including John Lewis, IKEA and Waitrose after employees were invited to offer feedback about their employers on the website received top marks from its employees, thanks to it offering “perks” including free breakfasts and snacks, childcare vouchers and free gym membership at the USN Bolton Arena.

John Roberts, the company CEO, told the Daily Mail: “At AO, we firmly believe that people are our business and caring about our employees is a fundamental part of our culture.”

Gwyn Hughes, Commercial Manager at the USN Bolton Arena, added: “This just goes to show how much staff really appreciate being given useful services like free gym membership. They feel valued, and it also shows how well the Arena’s Corporate Membership Scheme works.”


Helping Staff To Health And Fitness

THE healthy corporate relationship between the USN Bolton Arena and two major local companies took a further step forward with Workplace Wellness Weeks there.

The Arena already has well-established links with and Stateside Foods, both sponsors and which both fund gym memberships for their staff at the Arena gym.

The idea of the Wellness Weeks was to showcase to staff the excellent fitness facilities they have on their doorstep, and also to emphasise what they get from their own company.

The Weeks involved Arena staff going in to the workplace to arrange fitness challenges to get people talking about and signing up to the gym membership. There were also programme drop-ins so anyone could come and get advice on their training programme.

Some of the Arena’s tenants and other sponsors also got involved. Summit Physiotherapy offered a free injury clinic to both workforces and  gave them discounts for their first visit. And USN staff helped out with  product sampling and were available to help out with questions on nutrition.

“The Arena is able to go into businesses to put on similar Wellness mornings or afternoons,” states Marketing and B2B Account Executive James Chapman. “There are a number of ways in which companies can help their staff become a healthier workforce.”
