Meet The Team: Jack Southern
NAME: Jack Southern
Age: 23
HOME: Westhoughton
JOB: Attendant instructor and inspire2action coach
CAREER PATH: I went to Canon Slade School. I was always sporty and played football for the school so I was already interested in fitness. I did a BTech Diploma in Sports Exercise Science at Leigh Sports Village, as part of Wigan and Leigh College. I also did an NVQ in Instructing Exercise and Fitness plus a course in nutrition. I’ve been at the Arena for six years and have almost finished my Personal Trainer qualification here.
FAVOURITE AREA OF THE GYM: I train four times a week in the gym – as well as playing football twice a week for Bolton Wyresdale FC – and I really like working with free weights.
AMBITIONS: I’d like to be a Personal Trainer at the Arena. I’ve also really enjoyed the mentoring participants on the Inspire2Action programme because you get to see a real difference in people and it’s such a good course. I like helping people with their diet and nutrition, too, and ensuring they have a suitable health and fitness programme just right for them. It’s a very satisfying job!
BEST THING ABOUT WORKING AT THE ARENA: The staff are brilliant!
