Over November and December, Bolton Arena has been running it's second Christmas Toy Appeal to brighten up Christmas for some of the area's most disadvantaged children.

Arena staff and members donated nine large sackfulls of toys, which will be distributed by the Variety Club to Fortalice Bolton, who offer emergency accommodation, help, support and advice to women and children fleeing domestic violence.

'We had a fantastic response from staff and members to last year's appeal, but the response this year has been even better. We are delighted to do something to try and bring a little Christmas cheer for these children, who find themselves in such difficult circumstances through no fault of their own.' says Danny Bevin, Fitness Manager at Bolton Arena.

Paul Wild, Chairman of the Bolton Branch of the Variety Club says:

'Christmas is a wonderful time as we all know, but there are some children and families who can't enjoy the festive season as much as other families for various reasons. Thanks to the Bolton Arena and all the generosity of staff and members many disadvantaged children in our area will enjoy Christmas that little bit more.'
