Bolton Arena staff went the extra 10k for charity at last month's Manchester 10k.

They raised £500 for the Parkinson's Society and £752 for Marie Curie Cancer Care.

Horwich Harrier Katie Ingram led a team of six ladies from Bolton Arena: 'We run weekly exercise classes for people with Parkinson's Disease Society who provide such great support for Parkinsons sufferers and their families. We also wanted to do our bit to get more women into running.'

Bolton Arena's Finance Exec Rob Gandy recently lost his father-in-law to cancer. 'The Marie Curie nurses did an amazing job looking after my father-in-law during his last few weeks. It's a fantastic charity and the 10k gave me an opportunity to do something in return.'

All the Bolton Arena runners successfully completed the race. Programme Manager Sue Hayes came home in 42min 59 secs and came second in the over 45's age group.
