Bolton Arena Partnerships Sport England This exciting development came about thanks to a massive injection of cash from the Lottery Sports Fund, and a lot of hard work in partnership with Sport England. The major award of £11.3 million, together with partnership funding already secured, totalling £15 million, has transformed the dream of a sports village in Horwich, Bolton into a reality. Bolton Metro & Middlebrook Partners In 1995, Bolton Council and its partners -- The Emerson Group and Bolton Wanderers Football Club launched the Middlebrook development. With the award-winning 25,000 seat Reebok Stadium which opened in September 1997 and the most successful Warner Village cinema in the UK, Middlebrook has become one of the most successful commercial leisure developments in the UK with over 9 million visitors a year. The success of the site continues to grow with the world class venue Bolton Arena the third stage of the Middlebrook building work. The Lawn Tennis Association & British Tennis Foundation The British Tennis Foundation pledged £750,000 towards the indoor tennis initiative back in May 1996. Since the original conception of the proposals the scheme increased in status to incorporate a National Tennis Tournament venue. The tournament venue has been awarded a further £200,000 by the Lawn Tennis Association. Foundation for Sports and the Arts (FSA) A successful bid was made to the FSA to support athletics development at Bolton Arena and a grant of £51,000 was awarded to provide field athletics and spectator accommodation for people from across the borough and region.
