We’ve listened to our members and are looking forward to the installation in the coming weeks. The £40,000 investment of new equipment keeps USN Bolton Arena at the cutting edge of the fast-moving gym industry.
Born from the experience of 6 Olympic Games, the new Selection Pro strength equipment brings you:

It’s back! Technogym’s popular gym challenge, Let’s Move For A Better World, returns to the Arena 13th – 31st March.
The challenge works by recording members MOVES (measurements of physical activity, collected by training on Technogym cardio and strength equipment connected to the MyWellness cloud) collectively as a club. Our MOVES are then tallied against other clubs around the UK, with the winning club receiving the grand prize of Technogym equipment. It’s a challenge that all members can get involved with, just jump on a piece of cardio equipment and get MOVing.
As a club we won the challenge back in 2014. We were then able to donate thousands of pounds worth of Technogym gym equipment to Rivington and Blackrod High School.
We are also offering individual prizes. Everyone who enters the challenge will be in with a chance of winning some amazing prizes! Last year we gave away free gym memberships, gift vouchers and daily spot prizes, so make sure you keep your eyes peeled for what’s on offer this time around.
So come along and join us at the USN Bolton Arena gym and get moving in 2017.
Call 01204 488118 or speak to a member of the gym team to get signed up.
If 2016 wasn’t your year, let us help you achieve all your fitness goals in 2017.
We’ve incorporated a whole host of brand new activities to make sure that there’s something for everyone. You will truly be able to find your fitness in 2017.
We’ve always aimed to give members more for their money. Market leading studio classes, Boxfit sessions, 1:1 sessions, personalised programmes and sauna and steam are just some of the activities available in your membership. Not content with that we’ve added more!
One of the first activities to launch last November was our “Couch To 5K” running group. The idea behind the group was to support members that had never run before or struggled with running, to get them to a standard where they could complete a 5K run. This culminated in members taking part in the Bolton park run on 17th December. Due to the current wintry conditions the group has now been postponed until early March.
The same will happen with Bootcamp. Although there was great demand for something a bit tougher, the ice cold temperatures seemed to put people off during the trial phase. Because of this Bootcamp will also return in March 2017.
The walking group also proved very popular. Over 10 members took part in the last walk of 2016. Monthly walks are planned going forward with the first taking place on 19th January 2017.
Boogie Bounce is back as a permanent fixture on our studio timetable. The brand new class has taken the fitness industry by storm over the last few month’s. The class has proved very popular so if you’d like to try it make sure you get yourself booked on in advance.
If getting that six pack you’ve always wanted is at the top of the list for 2017, we have a session just for you…15 Minute Abs! No booking required just make sure that you’re by the stretch zone at 7:45am, 10:45am, 1:15pm or 4:15pm (Mon – Fri) and get ready for a tough core workout.
If you’re struggling with motivation to train by yourself, get down to one of our coffee mornings and you could meet your training partner. Training with someone else helps to keep you on track.
As you can see there are plenty of activities for all. You can see a full list of what’s available as part of your membership here.
If you’d like anymore information on any of our new activities, get in touch by calling 01204 488104. You can also leave us a suggestion about a new activity you would like to see at the Arena via the enquiry form here.

Staff and members can look back on March with a great deal of pride.
The Let’s Move For A Better World challenge took over the gym from March 1st to 19th. The challenge is part of a global fight against physical inactivity and obesity by the Arena’s gym equipment supplier Technogym.
The aim of the challenge was for members to accumulate as many MOVEs as possible on the Technogym equipment – MOVEs being Technogym’s unit of exercise.
A total of 267 members took part, accumulating a remarkable 982,041 MOVEs. Bolton Arena’s top movers were Gary Cuthbertson and Joanne Cartwright, who each won a year’s gym membership, with Carol Wroe finishing third. Lots more members also won t-shirts and sweatbands as spot prizes.
Internationally, 121,000 people took part at 513 facilities, accumulating 404, 325, 122 MOVEs. The Arena’s Commercial Manager, Gwyn Hughes, stated: “It’s fantastic to be part of such a massive global movement against obesity and physical inactivity. We have a good track record in these challenges and, yet again, our members joined in great numbers and did us proud. Thanks to everyone who participated.”
Members and staff also got involved in activities for Sport Relief on March 18. There was a cake sale and a charity bike ride, in which staff and customers covered an impressive 269 km. All of which raised an equally impressive £337.50 for Sport Relief.
Commented Gwyn Hughes: “As a sporting organisation with sporty staff, Sport Relief is close to our hearts and one of our designated charities for 2016. Thanks to all the staff who baked – and burned – calories, and thanks to all who supported by donating and buying cakes.”
ARE you “moving” more in the gym?
The Arena is again running its popular challenge Let’s Move For A Better World as part of the national campaign by global gym equipment supplier Technogym.
This aims to encourage everyone to greater fitness and health by recording as many MOVEs as possible. These are measurements of physical activity, collected by training on Technogym cardio and strength equipment connected to the MyWellness cloud.
It’s a fitness challenge for all members – and one that the USN Bolton Arena has won previously when it became the No.1 gym in the UK campaign in 2014. This not only meant better health for all those taking part but also won costly circuit training equipment for Rivington and Blackrod High School.
The new campaign that runs from March 1st to March 19th means that if the Arena finishes in the top three we will be donating Technogym products to St Joseph’s High School in Horwich. If we’re first it will be £7,500 worth of equipment, coming second means £3,500 of equipment and third will bring the school £2,500 of equipment to help youngsters enjoy greater fitness and health.
Not only that, everyone who enters the gym challenge has a chance of winning free gym memberships, gift vouchers and daily spot prizes. The member that accumulates the most MOVEs will win a year’s free membership.
We’re all dressing up for the occasion, too! The gym will be decorated in yellow and black – Technogym’s colours – and we will be hosting a Yellow Night on Friday, March 11th. Then there will be extra challenges with even more prizes to be won as well as healthy drinks and snacks available for everyone taking part. There is also a special cycle challenge to raise money for Sport Relief and we’ll be contributing MOVEs towards the campaign.
On the weekends of March 5th and 6th and 12th and 13th we’ll also be running Bring a Friend weekends where members can bring a friend to use the gym for free provided they contribute MOVEs to the challenge.
So come along and join us at the USN Bolton Arena gym – and MOVE into a new world of fitness and fun in 2016!
Call 01204 488118 or speak to staff for more information.
If the New Year resolutions are starting to wane, we’ve got just the gym challenge to get you moving more! The ‘Let’s Move For A Better World’ Challenge is back next month and everyone can get involved!
The Challenge is organised by our equipment suppliers Technogym, with gyms all over the world taking part. It’s the fourth such Challenge and the aim, as always, is to accumulate as many MOVES as possible (MOVES being Technogym’s unit of exercise).
Bolton Arena has won two of the previous three challenges, winning gym equipment for the local community in the process. And we’re aiming to challenge again for the top prize.
As always, there will also be prizes up for grabs for our members.
The challenge runs from 1st to the 19th March. Please speak with our Fitness Team if you’d like to take part.
On 20th, 21st, 27th & 28th February, members can also bring a friend to use the gym for free, provided both you and your friend register for the challenge. Again, please ask the Fitness Team for details.
