Job Opportunity: Memberships Adviser

Membership Adviser – Part Time

We are seeking a motivated, reliable and hardworking individual to join our Membership team.

Duties will include planning and executing sales activity through the use of text, e-mail, telesales, leaflet drops and outreach activities. You will also conduct face-to-face appointments, deal with telephone and ‘walk-in’ enquiries and maintain an excellent programme of after sales care and promotion of referrals, renewals and retention activity.

Successful candidates will need to be friendly, approachable and confident, possess excellent communication and negotiation skills, be computer literate and have the ability to capture and process information accurately and in a timely manner.

Ideal candidates will have experience of working in a sales role and experience of working within the leisure industry would be advantageous, although not essential as full training will be given. In addition, you should be self-motivated, able to work on your own initiative and unsupervised and possess good literacy and numeracy skills.

Salary: A competitive salary is offered, plus commission and bonus scheme

Hours: 17.5 hours per week (average). Permanent contract.

Gymnastics Coach (Level 1 or above)

Salary: Competitive, dependent upon qualifications

The successful applicant will be required to assist and lead on evening gymnastics classes.

To apply for this exciting role, you must be qualified at UKCC Level 1 at least, (or equivalent) and in addition hold the following certificates/membership: –

All certificates relating to the above plus evidence of qualifications must be provided at the interview stage.

Hours of work – up to 24.75 hours per week.  This vacancy is flexible, and applications are invited from all applicants who may be seeking to work less hours per week or on a casual basis.

Leisure Attendant
(deputy Customer Services Manager)

USN Bolton Arena is looking for suitably qualified and experienced individuals with excellent customer service skills to be part of the Operations team.
Ideally, we are seeking individuals with first-hand experience of working in the Leisure Industry, who enjoy working as part of a team and have excellent communication skills and a good understanding of service delivery.
Duties will include general cleaning and housekeeping tasks, equipment set up and providing cover for the Customer Services Manager in their absence. Full training will be given and each of these tasks requires a high level of interaction and communication with colleagues and customers.
You will be required to work shifts including evenings, early mornings and weekends with a commitment to working flexibly to meet the needs of the service.

Salary: Meets National Minimum wage, plus enhancement to £9.23 per hour when deputising for Customer Services Manager

Hours: 3-week rota pattern, averaging 36.08 hours per week

WORK TITLE: Health and Fitness Instructor

WHAT DOES YOUR WORK INVOLVE: The role involves creating tailored workouts that are unique for our members. Helping them to achieve their goals and ultimately improve their lifestyle.

HIGHLIGHTS OF YOUR CAREER SO FAR: Seeing the positive effect that exercise and fitness has on an individual’s overall well-being. It is not just the obvious physical change that occurs but also the self confidence gained that can be used in other aspects of a persons life.

SPECIAL WORK CHALLENGES: Helping people to not be afraid of the gym environment and to realise the overwhelming majority do not live on social media and come out of men’s health magazine. Everybody is different and has different capabilities and it’s important to not compare yourself to others but to focus on you and your own goals.

FUTURE PLANS: I am keen to further my knowledge within the fitness industry. I have a degree in sports science but would like to study nutrition as a higher qualification.

BEST THING ABOUT THE ARENA: I enjoy the team of staff that I work with at the arena.

WHAT DOES YOUR WORK INVOLVE: Providing people with individual plans to achieve their own specific goals and offering help and support along the way to make sure this is achieved. Offering energetic and enthusiastic classes for all abilities to allow people to enjoy group exercise and get the most out of their class.

HIGHLIGHTS OF YOUR CAREER SO FAR: Seeing how exercise and fitness can not only change a person physically but mentally. Being able to be proud of so many people for what they have achieved in their life after starting their fitness journey.

SPECIAL WORK CHALLENGES: Trying to get people to realise that this is an individual journey as social media has made this industry and what it represents an impossible task.  People’s goals can be unrealistic which leads to a lack of motivation and quitting.  Don’t compare yourself to anyone but who you were yesterday.

FUTURE PLANS: To develop my knowledge on nutrition and mental health through exercise.

BEST THING ABOUT THE ARENA: Without a doubt the people I have the pleasure to work with and the members who always make me smile.

New activ 2

New Activities: Coming Soon

Are you a current member of the gym here at the Arena? Or have been in the past? Or are you a member of a different gym?

If you’re any of the above, you’ll know that there are times when your training can become boring. That’s why we introduced a range of different activities into our membership such as walking group, Couch to 5k, Bootcamp and more. All of which can be seen here.

Not content with just our current activities, we’ve decided to give you more! Over the coming weeks we’ll be introducing:

Cardio Blast – This will be a 15 minute high intensity session that will definitely get your heart racing. There will be no need to book, all you will need to do is turn up and get put through your paces by one of our instructors. The exercises will change each session to keep it interesting, so one session could be bike work and the next shuttle runs!

Advice Sessions – These sessions will take place on Saturdays and will involve an instructor being present in the free weights area throughout the morning to give out advice. So if you need some pointers on your technique or need some new exercises, come and speak to us!

Bleep Test –  You might not have enjoyed it at school, but the bleep test is a great way to test yourself and set yourself some goals. We’ll be putting it on once a month in the studio.

Body Fat Testing – If you’re looking to lose weight (fat), stepping on the scales isn’t always the best way to measure your progress. This is because of the fact that a set of scales won’t account for your muscle mass. Taking a Body Fat Test will let you know what percentage of your weight is fat, from this you can accurately see how much you’re losing.

Along with the new activities we’ve also added in some new stretch sessions to go along with our 15 minute ab workouts.

WHAT DOES YOUR WORK INVOLVE: Helping people find specific health and fitness goals, then helping them obtain them within the gym environment. Giving people plans that they can follow which are suited to their individual needs and goals.

HIGHLIGHTS OF YOUR CAREER SO FAR: Helping and seeing a close friend lose up to 6 stone and getting them much fitter. Also winning my Pro card in Bodybuilding by coming first as a Junior Bodybuilder.

SPECIAL WORK CHALLENGES: Trying to make people see that the gym isn’t that big and scary but how it can be a fun place to be. Also there’s no point in doing a workout in which you don’t enjoy, if you enjoy it you give it 100%.

FUTURE PLANS: To learn more about the fitness industry as it is forever changing, you can never know enough! Branch out my knowledge to more cardio based exercises rather than strength and conditioning.

BEST THING ABOUT WORKING AT THE ARENA: Since I joined the team I was made very welcome and comfortable from the start. People are more than happy to help each other.

Gym Challenge: The Ultimate Member

Do you come to the gym often? Take part in a variety of different activities? Consider yourself  to be a gym hero? Well June could very well be your month.

Next month we will be running an “Ultimate Member” gym challenge where you’ll get the chance to accrue points taking part in a number of different gym activities.

Not only will you get the title of USN Bolton Arena’s Ultimate Member, but we’ve also put up some great prizes. We have a 1st place prize of £50 worth of shopping vouchers for the member with the most points and a raffle prize for everyone that completes four out of six activities.

The different activities include a studio class, an active session, an outdoor session, a programme review, attending the gym and liking us on Facebook. Once you have completed four, you’ll go into the prize draw for the chance to win £30 worth of shopping vouchers.
