This is an exciting time for the Arena, and as part of the Strategic Leadership Team you will be a commercially minded individual who is results orientated, target driven and self-motivated. You will be accountable for a number of areas, including Health & Fitness Membership, Conference & Events, Sponsorship, B2B & Office Rentals you will be able to identify additional opportunities and work closely with other Senior colleagues on all commercially related activity across the business.
To be considered for this post you will be an excellent communicator and influencer with a strong background and knowledge of sales and marketing, ideally within the sports, leisure or similar sector. This is a strategic post requiring, creativity, insight into current leisure trends, product knowledge and excellent planning and organisation skills.

Thursday 9th February saw the Arena host our Make Some Noise business event. The event was put on to showcase how working with the Arena could benefit local businesses. USN Bolton Arena chairman Richard Hurst hosted the event.
Sponsors Stateside Foods, Emerson, Craftprint and Lostock Motor Works all gave fantastic speeches to over 60 businesses, talking of the positive impact that working with the Arena has had on their business. After the speeches guests were able to network at their own leisure.
Events and B2B Manager, Hannah Mooney said “The event was a huge success. It allowed local businesses the chance to find out more about the Arena and what goes on here.
“Not many people realise that we are in fact a charity with all our profits going back into the facility and the programmes which we run. So to be able to support the community whilst advertising to our many visitors is a win win for our sponsors.”

NAME: Mark Peach
JOB: Catering Operations Manager for Bolton Whites in the Arena.
CAREER SO FAR: I was born and brought up in Derby and first went into the catering industry at 16 as a bottle-washer. I progressed to becoming a barman and supervisor then assistant manager. I came to work as deputy manager for The Malthouse Farm pub restaurant in Chorley when it first opened and was there for about five years. Then I went to work for De Vere’s at the Bolton Whites Hotel for seven years as bar manager, dealing with the hotel and conferencing for about two years which was a very busy lifestyle with hundreds of staff. I wanted to improve my work/life balance (I’m married with a seven year-old son) so moved over to working for Bolton Whites in the Arena just a month or two ago.
WHAT ARE YOUR DUTIES NOW? I look after all the conference and event catering at the Arena and also the Refresh Café.
WHAT DO YOU LIKE ABOUT THE ARENA? It’s less corporate and more family-oriented and I really like all the smaller clubs which are attached to the Arena. There’s a great atmosphere and buzz here and people are very friendly.
WHAT IS YOUR GREATEST CHALLENGE CURRENTLY? The Refresh Café – we want to get it absolutely right and I’ve been asking lots of customers exactly what they want from it.
WHAT ARE YOUR PLANS HERE? I’m looking at several different things including outside catering, taking orders – including made by Twitter – to the various businesses and offices nearby.
WHAT ARE YOUR SPORTING INTERESTS? I like running and I’ve also started using the Arena gym – it’s great that we can do this so easily.
WHAT ARE YOUR FUTURE PLANS? I’m here for the long-term, and looking forward to all that brings.

THE Great Northern Wedding Show makes a welcome return to the Arena on Sunday, September 18 with everything the bride and groom need for their dream wedding.
This is THE essential wedding exhibition for all engaged couples and their families and is a huge regional draw.
As well as three catwalk shows during the day – including the very popular Alternative Catwalk with Legend Bridal Designs at 3pm – the show also features classic bridal collections together with collections for the curvy bride. There is also occasionwear and formal hire.
Add to that live performances and demonstrations, stalls with examples of every type of item needed for the wedding, from cakes to stationery plus fabulous food to sample and superb wedding cars of all kinds on show, and you’ve got a must-see event.

WE certainly have a busy few months ahead here at the USN Bolton Arena with a variety of amazing events.
On September 18th , Little White Books return with their fantastic Great Northern Wedding Show. It really is THE place to come for anyone planning a wedding as there are stalls from every nuptial area – from bouquets and bridalwear to cakes and cars and from make-up artists and marquees to venues and videographers.

On October 1st and 2nd Strongman Bolton is back with all the amazing displays of strength. This is a really enjoyable weekend for all the family with a friendly atmosphere, tough competition and some amazing feats of strength on show.

Health and Safety North also returns to the Arena on October 12th and 13th . This is the event when safety and health practitioners and communities from across the North of England come together to learn, network and procure.

The Great British Craft Festival made another appearance at the USN Bolton Arena on June 4th and 5th.
Like previous events, there was a special VIP Workshop day on Friday, June 3 where visitors enjoyed working with fabrics, making sculptures as well as creating stylish silhouettes. The VIP tickets included lunch on Friday, a free £50 goodie bag and entry to the Festival on Saturday and Sunday.
This year, visitors enjoyed everything crafty – from papercraft and fur to leather, pincraft, beading, buttons and fabric.
Thrillled with how the event went, Adam Newhouse from organisers Hunkydory Crafts Ltd commented: “Thank you to everyone at the Arena for another super smooth event, see you in 2017!”
