Meet The Staff: Matt Potts
NAME: Matt Potts
JOB: Senior Fitness Instructor
CAREER SO FAR: I went to Rivington and Blackrod High School and loved sports there. I played football for the school and carried on playing for different local teams when I left. I always wanted to be a gym instructor and went to work at Lostock Leisure Centre where I got my qualifications. I then went to De Vere Whites Hotel’s fitness centre as a gym instructor before coming to the Arena in September, 2005.
FITNESS AND SPORTS ROUTINE: I don’t play football any more but started playing team tennis and now play three times a week for Lostock Tennis Club. I train about three times a week in the gym and particularly like the spin bike; I also go mountain biking each week. When I work out in the gym, I suppose my favourite piece of equipment is the leg extensions machine.
BEST THING ABOUT WORKING AT THE ARENA: I like the people I work with. I also like working in the gym – it’s got a real buzz.
AMBITION: I’d like to further my managerial career.
BEST PIECE OF ADVICE I GIVE: Concentrate on your food and go to the gym two or three times each week. There’s no point in working out in the gym and then eating what you like – 80% of your results come from what you eat.
