About the prestigious tournament :
In 1953, a young girl named Maureen Connolly won the Grand Slam of tennis. She was the first woman to ever capture this elusive crown by winning the Australian, French, Wimbledon, and U.S. Championships in one calendar year. She was only 18 years old when she accomplished this magnificent feat. Maureen was known as the incomparable “Little Mo”.
Many champions, including Andy Roddick, have come through the “Little Mo” program in its 35 year history. Roddick won the “Little Mo” event in 1992 at 10 years of age. Roddick said, that the ‘Little Mo’ was his first big win.
“Youngsters have a chance to meet players from other countries, gauge their skills against players their same age, learn good sportsmanship, and enjoy the game without the pressure of rankings. The foundations wants to introduce the name Maureen ‘Little Mo’ Connolly and her accomplishments to youngsters worldwide.”
